Safe Weddings during Pandemic!

Weddings across the world have been on hold for time being due to unpredictable lifting of social-distancing restrictions. Move over working from home, it's time for weddings from home, and intimate weddings with limited guest count. It is important to keep safety in mind. Taking steps to protect your guests – and your sanity – can ensure a successful wedding. The ‘New Normal’ for celebrating weddings in the post-COVID-19 world is going to be different, emphasizing on top-notch hygiene standards as well as ensure contact less services. Given this situation, to limit risks and ensure safety, couples who plan to celebrate their weddings during the latter half of the year will have to consider altering their wedding plans.

Here are the few things to keep in mind while planning a wedding during this period.

1. Contact less food serving :

Indian weddings are meant for tasty food and lavish buffets lunch/dinners. Physical distancing measures should be taken whilst at it. One designated server should be assigned to serve a dish each at the buffet to avoid guests touching the cutlery/spoons. Sides at the table is another way to ensure the safety of guests, thereby avoiding queues at the food counters, where people tend to gather in closer distance at weddings. If it’s a buffet-style service, line marking to maintain six feet distance between two people is important. Besides this, caterers will also have to ensure that the raw materials or ingredients for food preparation are sourced from trustworthy suppliers, who ensure utmost cleanliness while delivering the stock from the farm to the venue.

2. Maintaining precise hygiene :

Right from the entry to exit, venues need to place sanitizers and hand napkins at every point. Thermal checking to be done at the entrance. All venues should diligently disinfect spaces pre and post the wedding function. Guests should be able to sanitize their hands-on arrival and should be provided with ample amount of hand washes and sanitizers in the washrooms. Masks to be provided if needed. To avoid overcrowding the washrooms, guests should have a designated waiting area where they can maintain physical distance from each other.

3. Few things to follow :

Societal norms call for handshakes and hugs during milestones and celebrations like weddings, Photo sessions that typically occur at wedding receptions should be eliminated. There should be certain rules to follow in the post-pandemic phase at any sort of social events. Wearing masks, washing hands with alcoholic sanitizers whenever it’s needed, maintaining distance, by not touching face frequently and by opting hygienic measures these are the few steps to protect your guests – and your sanity which can ensure a successful wedding.

4. The new normal weddings :

As we all know most of the couples are opting for local weddings in their hometowns, instead of destination weddings. Additionally, overseas guests may prefer being a part of the celebration virtually, due to restrictions for non-essential travel. Furthermore, live streaming wedding ceremonies are a foreseeable trend soon. Therefore, it is better to get used to the new wedding trends.
